How We Work
Engineers Without Borders SFP collaborates with remote, developing world communities in countries usually off the radar of larger aid organizations. Professionals and students from a variety of professions including engineering, health, and business, make up our volunteers.
Engineers Without Borders has made a five-year commitment to a developing world community to design, implement, and maintain low-cost, small-scale, replicable and sustainable water, sanitation, renewable energy, and other projects - while respecting the community’s wishes, history, culture and way of life.
The local communities around the world recommend the projects. Once projects are completed, EWB-SFP volunteers train local community members, NGOs on the ground, and others to monitor and maintain the projects, while developing the necessary managerial, technical, and entrepreneurial skills.
Throughout its mission, EWB-SFP educates the next generation of globally aware students, who are acutely conscious of the needs of 90 percent of the world.
EWB-SFP works to meet the objectives of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
