About EWB-SFP - Executive Committee
The Executive Committee (EC) serves to provide leadership to EWB-SFP and to coordinate the Fundraising, Outreach, and Grant Writing committees. EC positions are elected once per year and the duties for each position are defined in the EWB-SFP Constitution and Bylaws.

Executive Committee Members
David Youmans - President
David is currently a Mechanical Design Engineer at Green Mountain Engineering in San Francisco where he is working on projects ranging from silicon manufacturing for photovoltaics to solid hydrogen storage. He has design experience in mechanical systems, renewable energy, and medical devices. David graduated Cum Laude from the University of California San Diego in 2002 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and received an award for highest academic achievement. He is currently in his second term as chapter president and was a founding member of the West Coast Region of EWB. In addition to administrative duties, David has been an integral part of the Tanzania project team and has led two project trips to that country.
Peter Coats - Vice President
Peter is currently a Senior Engineer of Building Technology at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger, Consulting Engineers in San Francisco. He received a BS in Architectural Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2003. He has worked extensively in Germany and Spain and has been actively involved with the EWB Haiti Project. He is currently a member of EWB, CSI, USGBC and SEAONC. He has been with the chapter for two and a half years.
Stephanie Johnson - Treasurer
Stephanie currently works as a Trader/Operations Analyst at Bailard, Inc, an Investment Management firm in Foster City. She graduated cum laude from Carleton College in 2004 with a BA in Economics and an advanced certificate in Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys playing soccer and traveling.
John Wind - Communications Officer
John works as a planning engineer for Chevron in Richmond, CA. He obtained a BS in chemical engineering from Purdue University in 1996 and a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin in 2002. He has seven years of industrial experience in chemical processing, membrane-based separations and advanced energy technologies. John currently works on greenhouse gas mitigation and integration of emerging issues in corporate responsibility and community integration into the energy business. John is responsible for the presentation of EWB-SFP materials to the public and works with EWB-USA on IT issues. He traveled with a project team to Tanzania in 2006 to implement water supply and water quality testing/education projects.
Johnny Fu - Fundraising Chair
Johnny is currently an Electrical Engineer for Sierra Lobo, Inc. in Moffett Field, CA where is he researching sensors for space vehicle thermal protection systems. He graduated with a B.S. from the University of California at Berkeley in 2002 and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University – San Luis Obispo in 2004. Currently the Fundraising Coordinator, Johnny among other things enjoys cooking, the works of Haruki Murakami, and Cal football.
Brian Park - Information Technology Officer
Brian works as a Software Engineer at Google Inc. in California. Prior to Google, he worked at a number of technology companies in software development and project management roles. He enjoyed extended periods of vacation between jobs by backpacking through Western Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, South-East Asia, and Australia. He traveled with the Tanzania team in the summer of 2006 to help implement a slow-sand water filtration system. He hopes to learn enough Spanish to backpack through South America one day. Brian has a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Stanford University, and a B.A.Sc. in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto. He lives in San Francisco.
Lauren Wild - Membership Coordinator
Lauren is currently working at a high school in San Francisco in the
Development Office which deals with database management and fundraising. She graduated from California Polytechnic University San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly, SLO) with a MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a BS in Environmental Engineering in 2005 where she was involved with EWB-Cal Poly, SLO. After graduation, she has been involved in the EWB-SFP Fundraising committee. She is also working with fellow Cal Poly Environmental Engineering grads in the capacity of secretary to create a special interest chapter of the Cal Poly Alumni Association.
Madhu Chamarty - Outreach Coordinator
Madhu is currently working as a Business Analyst at Keystone Strategy, a management consulting firm formed by professors from Harvard Business School and the Wharton School at UPenn. He has a M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Prior to that, he graduated with a B.A. in Mathematics and a B.Eng.in Electronic and Computer Engineering from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. He first volunteered at the EWB-SFP's SFARI fundraiser and then wanted to contribute toward the organization's outreach. His interests include high tech and social entrepreneurship, venture capital and strategy consulting. He was a officer in the BASES group at Stanford, and organized two "Innovators' Challenge" entrepreneurship competitions. He has interned at MIT's Media Lab Europe to work on community based wireless ad hoc networks for the city of Dublin, Ireland. In the little spare time he manages to get, he climbs mountains, reads books on Western Philosophy and Critical Thinking, and watches The Simpsons. He also believes everything that's written in The Economist to be true.
Alex Fortin - Past Vice President
Alex is currently an environmental engineer working for Raines, Melton and Carella, Inc., a consulting firm in California. Alex is involved with water related projects in the Pajaro and Salinas Valley in the Monterey Bay Area. He also worked for the National Institutes of Health for approximately 3 years where he obtained extensive training in public health. He is a technical advisor for the community of CAPAO in the state of Bahia, Brazil and is an active member of BAWWA. Alex came to the U.S. from Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil in 1997. Alex has a B.S in Biology from the University of Maryland at College Park and a M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.
